The story I read was called The King Of The Bingo Game and it was about a black man from the South and he was trying to find a way to get some money so he can pay the doctor so he can find out what’s wrong with his girlfriend Laura. He can’t get a job because he doesn’t have a birth certificate.
So he’s been watching the bingo games for a while so he thinks he figured out how to win the jackpot. He thinks that’s Laura only chance of surviving. So he has five cards because he thinks that will increase his chances of winning and he knew once he win he have a chance to play for the jackpot and in order to win the jackpot he had to hold a button and double zero had to fall.
He thought if he just give the button a quick push it would have a good chance of hitting double zero so as he starts to push the button he start having doughts " What if it doesn’t land on the zeros, Laura will die" so he held down the button with his thumb and didn’t let go he just stood there and the audience started to get impatient and start cussing him out and yelling at him.
So the host put his hand on his shoulder and told him " Alright your time is up" and the man push the host hand off his shoulder violently and said " Leave me alone I know what I am doing" and the host called up security to get the man off stage. So the man starts running around in circles to avoid getting caught but he was caught and wrestled to the ground and security was trying to force the man’s hand open and one of the security was stomping on the man’s wrist and head.
The man black out for a moment and as the security was talking him away the man seen the wheel stop on double zero but the security didn’t turn around and see it and I’m not sure what happen then but I think he was shot in the head.
2. It was only two characters in the story who said something. The man who got on stage and wouldn’t leave. I think he was a good man he was trying to win some money so he can get a doctor for his girlfriend and he was one of the types to do whatever it takes to get it "Live, Laura, baby. I got holt of it now, sugar. Live!"
The second character was the host he was the type of man who try’s to embarrass people just to please the audience. "so you decided to come down off that mountain to the U.S."
3. The author didn’t tell what the characters where like, you had to figure them out as you read the story.
